1: BS EN39 steel introduction
EN39 is a 4.5% nickel, chromium, molybdenum grade, suitable for case hardening to give a case resistant surface with a high core strength up to 1310 N/mm2. This grade is commonly supplied as round bar. EN39A and EN39B are common standards for this grade.

7: Delivery condition
For hot forged bar, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed/QT, rough turned/Black surface.
For hot rolled bar, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed/QT, Black surface.
For hot forged block, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed/QT, milled surface/Black surface
For hot rolled plate, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed/QT, black surface.
For cold drawn bar, usually the delivery condition is cold drawn, annealed/QT, peeled/black surface
