  • Quick Details

    1: 1035 steel introduction
AISI 1035 is a low-cost, tough, medium-strength steel ideal for general-purpose applications, AISI 1035 is a medium-carbon alloy that can be normalized, hot-rolled, and water- or oil-quenched before tempering.
1035 steel has a chloride threshold value the critical chloride concentration above which the steel will begin to corrode four to five times higher than that of carbon steel. 1035 (HR) - Intermediate carbon higher in strength and hardness than low carbon steel. Used for studs, bolts etc. Water-hardening steels suitable for small parts of moderate strength. Used in levers, bolts, nuts, studs, and similar parts which are headed, upset, or extruded.
One of the most widely used precipitation hardening grades in the business. While soft and ductile in the solution annealed condition, it is capable of high properties with a single precipitation or aging treatment. Characterized by good Corrosion resistance, high harness, toughness and strength.

    4: 1035 steel mechanical properties

The mechanical properties mainly include tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, area or reduction, hardness, impact value, non-metalic inclusion etc. Different heat treatment, the mechanical properties will be different, such as normalized, tempered, QT. If you want to know the properties, kindly contact the salesman.

    6.Heat Treatment
    Annealing
Full annealing of small C1035 forgings is carried out from 1550-1625oF (840-890oC) followed by furnace cooling at 50oF (28oC) per hour, to 1200oF (650oC) soaking and air cooling.
    Normalizing
The normalizing temperature range for this grade is typically 1600-1650oF (870-900oC.)
Normalizing is followed by cooling in still air. When forgings are normalized before hardening and tempering or other heat treatment, the upper range of the normalizing temperature is used. When normalizing is the final treatment, the lower temperature range is used.
    Hardening
Hardening of this grade is carried out from an austenitizing temperature of 1525-1575oF (830-860oC) and oil or water quenching.
Flame and induction hardening may be carried out by heating quickly to the desired case depth and quenching in water or oil. This should be followed by a tempering treatment at 300-400oF (150-200oC) to reduce stresses in the case without affecting its hardness. A surface hardness of Rc 50 may be obtained by this treatment.
    Tempering
Tempering after normal hardening and oil or water quenching is carried out at 750-1260 oF (400-680oC) to give the required mechanical properties as determined by practical experience.

    7: Delivery condition
For hot forged bar, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed/QT rough turned/Black surface.
For hot rolled bar, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed/QT, Black surface.
For hot forged plate, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed/QT, milled surface
For hot rolled plate, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed/QT, black surface.
