        EN30B is a 4% nickel air/oil hardening steel. It achieves a good through hardness with high strength and toughness. It is capable of taking a good polish and is widely used as drill bit material

    Application EN30B alloy steels are used for Down-hole tools, heavy duty construction tools, rock drilling bit bodies, highly stressed gears and transmission components, heavy duty shafts and rolls.


    6:Heat Treatment 

    Forging – Commence 1200℃ (2190℉) Max.
    Double Annealing – Austenitize 850℃ to 865℃ (1560℉ to 1590℉)Quench and tempered
    Machinability: Double Anneal at 635℃ to 650℃ (1175℉ to 1200℉)Do not exceed 660℃ (1220℉)
        A Hardness of 269 HB Max is achievable
    Normalize, Temper & Stress Relieve - Austenitize 850℃ to 865℃ (1560℉ to 1590℉).Air cool to room temperature
        Temper 530℃ (990℉), air cool
        Stress Relieve 500℃ (930℉), air cool
    Hardened & Tempered Austenitize 850℃ to 865℃ (1560℉ to 1590℉) Forced air cool or oil quench. Temper at 200℃ (400℉), air cool.

     

    7: Delivery condition
        For hot forged rolled bar, usually the delivery condition is hot forged or rolled, annealed/QT, rough turned/Black surface.
        For hot forged or hot rolled bar, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed/QT, Black surface.
        For hot forged plate, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed/QT, milled surface/Black surface
        For hot rolled plate, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed/QT, black surface.
